TSI Chosen as First-Tier Sub to Harris Corporation in Upgrading U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs IT Systems

WASHINGTON, DC, July 21, 2011– Harris Corporation has been selected by The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as one of eight companies in the large business category to participate in a five-year technology and telecommunications Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quality (IDIQ) contract. Chosen as a first-tier sub to Harris, Technology Specialists, Inc (TSI) will assist with the upgrade of the department’s information technology (IT) systems.

A total ceiling value of $12 billion, the Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology (T4) contracting vehicle covers services that will streamline and modernize VA operations. The T4 program is structured to transform the VA, including the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), into an organization that can meet the VA’s long-term technology needs while providing Veterans with high-quality services and health care.

Alongside with Harris, TSI will offer the VA an array of IT services, including program management and strategic planning, systems and software engineering, enterprise networks, cyber security, operations and maintenance, IT facilities solutions, technical support and systems engineering. Locations may include Federal, State, VA, or military data centers, facilities, treatment facilities, health clinics and Tricare facilities. 

Federal City Marine Corps Support Facility is now open for business

Monday June 27th, 2011.  New Orleans, Louisiana A celebration of economic development was held at the Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters opened in the new Federal City complex in Algiers, Louisiana.  Federal City has something for every Marine, from a high-tech simulated shooting range to exercise facilities, recording studios for the Marine Corps Band, even a courtroom in a facility that serves 100,000 Marine Reservists worldwide. TSI was honored to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony as a sign of our commitment to the military in the great state of Louisiana.

The 15-year development plan calls for converting the Naval Support Activity into a hub of governmental and private entities mixed with businesses, residences and an educational area nestled between the Mississippi River and Gen. Meyer Avenue in a district about the size of the French Quarter. Supporters of the building eventually hope the development will blossom into a $250 million investment where 10,000 people will work.

"Marines from Marine Forces Reserve, 58,000 of whom have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan over the last several years, deserve a world-class facility to operate out of," said General Joseph Dunford, the Marine Corps assistant commandant. "

After six months of hard work and diligence, TSI is proud to be apart of the construction of the 411,000-square-foot building in a 29-acre Marine Corps Support Facility compound.  TSI supported the Marine Force Reserves (MARFORRES) in the ongoing Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) down in New Orleans, LA. The  principal project was equipment relocation services for closing and realigning bases including: 

• Technical data and information capture, cataloging, and packaging
• Layout design to reconfigure equipment footprint to fit new space
• Inventory of equipment, ancillary devices, and spares
• Safety for demolition and construction, while rigging and moving equipment
